The Acer Predator Orion 7000 ($4,499) is Acer’s flagship gaming PC, offering high performance for the price. After testing the newest high-end model with Intel’s Alder Lake CPUs and one of Nvidia’s most powerful graphics cards, I affirm you get what you paid for. The glossy black Orion 7000 looks excellent on a desk, and our review unit’s cooling kept it quiet until we turned it up while gaming when the fans generated a lot of noise.

Acer Predator Orion 7000: Price and design

Acer Predator Orion 7000 m

The Acer Predator Orion 7000 starts at $3799.99 and goes up to $4799 for the topmost variant. For the price, you’re getting an RGB-lit chassis with excellent cable management hosting an Intel Core i7-12700H, Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080, 32GB GDDR5 memory, and 1TB storage.

But the configurations are very different with the units being sold in the UK and Australia, with the latter offering an Intel core i9-12900K, an Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080, 16GB of DRR5 RAM, and 512GB of storage, while the UK variant gets an Intel core i9-12900K, an Nvidia GeForce RTX 3090, 32GB of DDR5 RAM, and 1TB of storage. Both models are significantly more expensive and powerful than the US unit, but they are definitely a steal if value for money is the most important factor to consider.

All this comes at a different price, being that the machine is quite big and bulky, which completely negates the concept of portability. But in such a massive build lie the perfect cooling components of powerful fans and liquid cooling, which keep the machine as silent as if it were never turned on. The sound offered while using headphones is also top-notch, with crisp and sharp highs and lows, which speaks to the audio ports and features provided. It is one of the best audio experiences, especially for competitive gaming. It also comes with a decent gaming keyboard and mouse, which many of its competitors lack in terms of the quality offered, so that’s a nice added touch.

Acer Predator Orion 7000: Game Benchmarks

Acer Predator Orion 7000 m

These are the results the Acer Predator Orion 7000 produced when it ran these titles in the RTX 3090’s ideal 4K settings.

  1. Metro Exodus: Extreme settings; ray tracing maxed out: 116 FPS High settings; ray tracing at 135 FPS
  2. Red Dead Redemption 2: Ultra Settings: 77 FPS High Settings: 126 FPS
  3. Shadow of the Tomb Raider: Highest settings: 141 FPS High settings: 166 FPS

The above results literally show what a powerhouse this PC is since it absolutely decimates all the benchmarks by running games at not only 60 FPS + at 4K with all the settings like ray tracing turned at max but delivers much more with FPS crossing the 100 mark for most titles at the highest settings, which was previously unthinkable with titles like Metro Exodus and Red Dead Redemption 2. Another amazing feat by the device was that it could run Cyberpunk 2077 at max settings at 4K with frame rates of around 60 FPS, which was unheard of, and produced staggering visuals of Night City that were never seen before. Everything that was expected and more from the best specifications

Gaming Performance

Acer Predator Orion 7000 m

Our Acer Predator Orion 7000 review unit is a gaming beast, as expected given its price. Cyberpunk 2077, Total War: Warhammer 2, Guilty Gear Strive, and Dark Souls 3 ran smoothly for hours. We compared the Acer Predator Orion 7000’s performance in our testing to similarly priced gaming PCs. Acer’s system performed similarly to the Origin PC Millennium (2022) we examined earlier this year and somewhat better than the Alienware Aurora R13. That matches the pricing since the Origin PC Millennium review unit we examined cost $5,184 and the Aurora R13 cost $2,979.
