When talking about laptops, the Getac B360 Pro is in a group of laptops that are really tough. The amount of security on this PC, on the other hand, is higher than on other goods because it was built for business use.

The B360 Pro is tough enough to handle rough surroundings and heavy drops. It is sold as military-grade and ready to go right out of the box. Its outer shell can handle being dropped 6 feet and temps between -29°C and +63°C (-20°F and 145°F). It has been independently approved to meet MIL-STD-810H, MIL-STD-461G, and IP66 standards.

And because of that, it doesn’t have the speed you’d expect from a $3,500 laptop. It does, however, have a shockingly bright screen that was made to work in bright outdoor lighting and a strong base that keeps it safe from drops, heat, and other possible dangers.

Getac B360 performance

Getac B360 G2

The 1.6-GHz Intel Core i5-10210U processor in the Getac B360 works very well, but it might not be able to compete with non-ruggedized models in the same price range. The B360 did much worse than normal on the Geekbench 5.0 total speed test, getting a score of 3,237. Both the Vivobook S15 (3,560, Intel Core i5-102110U) and the Latitude 7310 (3,464, Intel Core i7-10610U) cost more than that. But none of the notebooks were able to beat the average of 4,041 for expensive laptops.

It took 19 minutes and 32 seconds for Handbrake to encode a 4K movie so that it could be played in 1080p on the B360. The Dell Latitude 7310 took a little longer: 19:39. The Vivobook S15, on the other hand, was much faster: 17:22, beating the average of 18:39.

It looks like a tank, but inside, it has a 12th-generation Intel processor, an Intel Iris Xe GPU, and up to 64GB of DDR4 RAM. If that isn’t enough, Getac will also add an extra NVIDIA GTX 1650 mobile graphics card, which will make the GPU work better than the built-in choice.

If longevity is the most important thing to you, the Getac B360 gives you the most safety in a thick but not too bulky package. But because it’s very expensive and doesn’t work very well, you should only think about getting it if you’re sure you need special tools.

Getac B360 design

Most tough computers are designed to work on-site in areas like buildings, law enforcement, and others. The Getac B360 is no different. A metal plate with dents in the top, thick plastic hinges, hidden ports, and visible screws give it a strong “tech as power tool” feel.

Even though it’s definitely about how something looks, these choices are based on purpose and style. The ends of the laptop are lined with plastic exit covers on three. These covers look like computer utility belts and keep liquids and small particles out. There is a big black clip on the front edge of the top panel that keeps the laptop shut when it’s not in use. There are a bunch of lights next to the holding handle that let you know about things like power, battery life, and online connection, so you don’t have to open the screen to see them.

With a brightness of 1400 nits, the company that makes the laptop says it is one of the best in its class, which we can confirm by measuring it ourselves. What’s even more amazing is the contrast ratio, which is about 1500:1. This is better than most other tough types.

Three major problems with the screen are that it can only show a few colors, responds slowly to black and white, and has pulse-width modulation at all light levels. The first two are fine because the B360 isn’t meant for professional picture editing or gaming. However, the last one might be a problem for people who are sensitive to lights flashing.

Getac B360 battery life

With two 24-watt-hour cells, the Getac B360 has a great power life. On the Laptop Mag Battery test, which involved surfing the web over Wi-Fi for 11 hours and 19 minutes at 150 nits of brightness, it held up. That’s a lot longer than the average for luxury laptops, which is 9:33, and the VivoBook S15, which is 8:23. The Dell Latitude, on the other hand, lasted a little longer, with a time of 12:18.

I found that the B360 could last for three to four days for regular work like word writing and web reading.

The best thing about this is that the batteries can be switched out, giving you more ways to charge if you’re not going to be able to plug it in for a while.

The Getac B360 is not like other high-end laptops in how it sets its objectives. It’s made to last in tough places like building sites, hospitals, and even war zones. If another laptop will do, I wouldn’t tell anyone to buy a Getac B360. But if you need a tough notebook that can keep working even after being dropped, the Getac B360 has the speed of a good mid-range laptop. And the battery lasts for more than 12 hours, so it can last for hours.

The Getac B360 G2 is great for cops, EMTs, troops, and field workers who value travel over freedom or replaceable parts. It can be bought in a lot of different setups. It’s bigger and costs more than consumer or office computers because it’s tough, but it will serve you well if you run towards things most people run away from. Thank you for your service if you’re looking for one.
